JUNO-winning folk songstress Keri Latimer has taken time away from the much-heralded Nathan to launch a new project, Leaf Rapids. She's joined by Nathan bandmate (and husband) Devin Latimer, and for debut album Lucky Stars they called upon ace producer/record label head Steve Dawson. He plays keyboards, banjo and an arsenal of guitars with customary skill (great twang and slide on "Agent Of The Night"), while Gary Craig (Blackie and the Rodeo Kings) is predictably excellent on drums. The focus remains on Latimer's pure and supple vocals and poetic songs, and her theremin playing adds atmosphere. A very cool cover of Bowie's "The Man Who Sold The World" rounds out a superb record. It can be purchased here.
